A family connection
A story about Black Rock Desert-High Rock Canyon Emigrant Trail National Conservation Area
I’ve been hiking in the Sierra Nevada and the Great Basin my whole life. My great-great grandfather, the first generation of my family to cross this area north of High Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, was a wagon master on the Oregon Trail. I am the fifth generation of my family to have the luck and honor to travel through it and soak it in.
